Macha!! Tea Break in Shinjuku Gyoen Garden

In the almost center of the Shinjuku Gyoen Garden, a Japanese tea house, Anon, waits for you to serve Maccha, Japanese green tea, and sweets. It is one of the famous tea houses run by Anon’s main shop in Kyoto, and it offers you a sense of the Japanese tea ceremony in a wooden house.

I took a break with a cup of Maccha and Hojicha ice cream with red bean paste. According to shop staff, we can choose either Maccha or Hojicha ice cream, and most visitors select Maccha. However, a staff member told me that 90% of the staff love the Hojicha taste, which is roasted Japanese tea. Since it came with Maccha tea, the Hojicha taste ice cream went well, and it helped me feel refreshed.

It’s a small shop, so it will likely be filled with so many guests that you may have to wait in line on weekends or public holidays. Visiting earlier in the morning gives you a better chance of getting a table.
