After my guests from Germany enjoyed watching the energetic and exciting sumo morning training, I introduced them to a calm place to cool their hot minds down. It’s a tea ceremony room where my guests could experience a bowl of Japanese matcha from a tea ceremony lecturer.
The tea room is run by an antique and art shop. The tea is served in a real antique tea bowl, which is very beautiful and quite traditional. Some of these bowls are worth more than a million yen. So, it means you can enjoy a genuine taste of the tea as well as the authentic art of Japanese pottery.
You don’t have to sit on the tatami floor. You can relax in a chair and observe what goes on while the lecturer makes tea.
After the tea ceremony, one of my guests marveled, “It’s an amazing experience. I feel that I touched a sense of real Japanese culture.”
