Nezuko, Princess Demon Slayer, comes! An anime photo experience brings a cute smile to my guest’s face.

My European guest had a unique request: she wanted me to take her photos in an anime character’s costume. According to her, Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are very popular in her country, and she asked her family to take her to Japan as her Christmas present. So, I booked a photo studio called ICHI, which offers photography services, including a traditional Japanese house studio (a 100-year-old house at the same age as the Demon Slayer’s setup) and costumes such as samurai clothes or women’s kimonos.

On the tour day, the studio ICHI handled her request flawlessly. The costume of her favorite character, Nezuko, one of the most popular characters in Demon Slayer, was displayed on a mannequin and waiting for her. A bright and adorable smile spread across her face when she spotted the costume, even though she seemed a bit nervous when she arrived at the studio.

After about 20 minutes of photography inside the studio, we walked out and headed to the riverside park five minutes away. It was cherry blossom season, so we took several of her photos under the fully blooming cherry trees.

Unfortunately, the Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen series have not been the primary sales targets in the anime industry in Japan at the moment since the Japanese people’s passion for Demon Slayer has just calmed down after the previous season and is now waiting for the next peak coming with the consequent film release and Jujutsu Kaisen has finished all of the episodes in the Manga magazine. So, it was not an easy task for me to find a photo studio that has kept anime costumes.

Fortunately, after many calls to photo studios, I found Mr. Mizuno, the owner of studio ICHI, who was willing to accept our request. Mr. Mizuno is a samurai action actor who also offers some samurai-related services to visitors to Japan. At the end of the photo session, Mr. Mizuno and his colleague showed us their performance. Thanks so much, the studio ICHI.

The studio ICHI also posted the article about Nezuko costume photography on its blog. Please take a look.
