A lovely day with my guest: Smile, Happy and “Hoppy”!

It was a great time exploring some sightseeing spots in Tokyo with a European family. They were so lovely, kind, and cheerful, and they were enthusiastic about experiencing something Japanese.

We first went up to the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Office building, where an observation room is open to the public from 9:30 to 22:00. Unfortunately, it was a bit hazy, so we could not see Mt. Fuji. Still, I hoped my guests caught the image of Big City Tokyo.

Then we visited the Shinjuku Gyoen Garden to see various species of Sakura, or cherry blossom. The famous Sakura, Somei Yoshino, has yet to start blooming, but another type, Shidare Sakura, whose branches look like they hang from the top, has almost fully bloomed.

We moved to Ameyoko, one of Tokyo’s most extensive shopping and food streets, and enjoyed lunch with ramen and seafood rice bowls. The Hoppy, a Japanese alcoholic drink, attracted their father’s curiosity, and he tried it and said, “Hum, interesting taste!” I like his smile behind the two bottles of Hoppy so much!

I am also delighted that they rated my guide five stars and left a great comment on the TripAdvisor website. Their smiles and the reviews are the treasures of my guide career.

I have pasted their review and attached the link to the TripAdvisor review site.

“We, a family of four, had a wonderful time with our guide Toru. He exceeded our expectations. Toru displayed great knowledge about Japan’s history and the sites we visited. We also connected over Netflix series.
We enjoyed matcha tea and ice cream, saw cherry blossom, enjoyed a fantastic view of Tokyo, and experienced the marked where we (the adults) drank a glass of hoppy.
We finished our tour at the Meiji shrine and the bustle of Harajuku. All in all extremely happy with our tour and our tour guide Toru. Highly recommended!”
